On Tuesday, March 25, students at Williamson Elementary School were treated to a captivating theatrical experience as Bright Star Touring Theatre brought its magic to the stage. The nationally renowned touring company, known for its engaging and educational performances, presented "Once Upon a Time: Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk" as well as "The Wizard of Oz."

Performers Emma Suzik and Wesley Harmon brought beloved characters to life, enchanting the audience with their storytelling, humor, and energy. The students were mesmerized by the performances, laughing at Jack’s daring adventure up the beanstalk and cheering for Dorothy’s journey through Oz.

Following the performances, students had the chance to participate in a Q&A session, where curiosity and excitement filled the air. One student eagerly asked, "How do you remember all your lines?" to which the actors responded, "We practice so often that we tend to memorize them quickly!"

Principal Ms. Saxby shared her enthusiasm for the event, saying, "The performances were absolutely fantastic! The students were completely captivated and engaged from start to finish. The script was well-crafted, and it was clear that Bright Star Touring Theatre knows how to make classic stories come to life in a way that excites and inspires young audiences."

Suzik and Harmon expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome they received, saying, "Thanks a million, Williamson Elementary School! Thank you so much for hosting us today and being so kind and helpful. We loved performing for everyone and are so happy the kids seemed to enjoy it. Thank you again!"

Bright Star Touring Theatre, based in North Carolina, travels across the country and even internationally, performing in schools, libraries, and theaters. Their productions cover a variety of topics, including classic literature, STEM, diversity and inclusion, social-emotional learning, and more.

The visit from Bright Star Touring Theatre was a memorable experience for students and staff alike, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to welcome live theatre into the school.
