Each year, Williamson High School proudly recognizes the International Day of Play, and this year’s celebration brought an exciting new focus on the future. In response to feedback from students and staff, the school combined the fun and energy of the day with meaningful career exploration, creating an experience that was both engaging and forward-thinking.

Students began the day by attending three career field sessions led by professionals from across the region—many of whom live and work right here in Wayne County. Presenters shared valuable insights into their industries, including daily responsibilities, educational pathways, and advice for students considering similar careers. The sessions offered students a firsthand look at a wide variety of professional opportunities.

Following the presentations, students attended a College and Career Fair in the high school gymnasium. More than 30 representatives from military branches, local trade unions, businesses, and colleges were on hand to answer questions and provide information. The fair gave students the opportunity to explore post-secondary options and begin planning for life after graduation.

“The day successfully blended the joy and energy of the International Day of Play with meaningful exposure to post-secondary opportunities,” said Dr. Robert Snyder, Williamson High School Principal. “By connecting students with professionals and institutions from the region, Williamson High School continues its commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation.”
