As you have likely heard about or read, Monday and Tuesday are forecasted to have extremely warm (HOT) temperatures. Given anticipated heat indexes of nearing or surpassing 100 degrees, we will be shifting to early release days on both Monday, 6/23, and Tuesday, 6/24, for all students in grades K - 8.
The schedule for early dismissal is as follows:
- Middle School - dismissal at 10:10
- Elementary School - dismissal at 11:10
- High School - no impact. Students scheduled to take REGENTS exams will follow regular schedule and transportation will be provided as originally scheduled.
I recognize that there were many end of year activities scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Building principals will work with faculty to adjust schedules in effort to preserve as many of the planned events possible. For example, we are hopeful that the planned 7th grade trip to Bowlero (originally scheduled for Monday) is being rescheduled to Wednesday, 6/25. Building principals and teachers will provide necessary updates to families as they become available and applicable to do so.
Note: The UPK Graduation Celebration scheduled for Monday evening will proceed as scheduled.
Thank you in advance for your flexibility and patience given this unanticipated pivot to our schedule and regrets for any inconvenience to our families.
Warmest regards,
E. Bridget Ashton
