A message from Superintendent E. Bridget Ashton:
I could not be more pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Snyder as the next High School Principal for the Williamson Central School District! Dr. Snyder was appointed by the Board of Education during a Regular Meeting of the Board this afternoon, Friday, July 19. This appointment reflects the district's commitment to excellence in academics and partnership with our community. Our stakeholders took the time to identify the qualities that matter most to our school community - relationship building, emphasis on positive culture, effective problem solving and decision making skills, strong communication skills - and it is my firm belief that Dr. Snyder possesses each of the attributes identified in our leadership profile. I am confident that he will serve as a humble, extremely capable and competent leader for the district.
Meeting the expectations of the WCS community is one that Dr. Snyder is well prepared to meet. He has an extensive background in school leadership. He started his career as a high school social studies teacher in the Rochester City School District. While teaching, Dr. Snyder also coached football and led various clubs including Model United Nations and Mock Trial. Dr. Snyder has five years of experience as a school principal, including the last two at Bay Trail Middle School in Penfield, NY. As a school leader, Dr. Snyder has facilitated a wide range of operational and instructional initiatives focused on improving school culture and student experience.
Dr. Snyder has earned all of his academic credentials from the University of Rochester. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in 7-12 social studies and special education, and an advanced certificate in school building and district leadership. In May 2019, he graduated with a doctorate. He has also completed the Data Wise Leadership Institute through the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Dr. Snyder lives in Penfield with his wife Laura and two daughters. "I am honored and excited to join the Williamson Central School District community as the new high school principal. I look forward to working collaboratively with the talented teachers, dedicated staff, supportive parents, and our wonderful students to build upon the strong foundation of excellence at Williamson High School. My goal is to foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to achieve their highest potential."
On behalf of the Williamson Central School District, I would like to personally thank all of the individuals who contributed invaluably to this process:
- Stakeholders who completed the Leadership Profile Survey to identify the leadership attributes which mattered most to the WCS community,
- Stakeholder committee interview participants - students, parents/guardians, instructional, operational and administrative staff - some who contributed interview questions, and all who committed several hours meeting with candidates and then providing invaluable feedback (strengths/concerns) and confidence ratings for each of our candidates.
To meet and learn more about Dr. Snyder, the District invites members of the school community to join us for a “Meet the Principal” event at the High School on 8/20/2024 from 5:30 - 7:00PM and/or on 8/22/2024 from 8:30 - 10:00AM. More information about these events will be forthcoming.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns or comments about the information contained in this communication or about the incredible work happening at WCSD. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmest regards,
Ms. Bridget Ashton
