This past weekend, Williamson students showcased their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills at the Odyssey of the Mind regional competition held on Saturday, March 8, at Johanna Perrin Middle School in Fairport. The event brought together young innovators from across the region to tackle unique challenges and think outside the box.

Williamson was well-represented with teams led by Mrs. Szklany, Mrs. Baglio, Mrs. Abdunassir, and Miss Capizzi. Demonstrating outstanding teamwork and ingenuity, both Mrs. Szklany’s and Mrs. Baglio’s teams earned 3rd place in Division 1, a tremendous accomplishment in this highly competitive event!

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition that challenges students from elementary school through college. Teams of up to seven students work together to solve one of several long-term problems, which may involve building mechanical devices, developing performances, or tackling engineering challenges. In addition to their long-term projects, teams also participate in a spontaneous problem-solving round, where they must think quickly to solve verbal or hands-on challenges on the spot.

The competition fosters innovation, teamwork, and out-of-the-box thinking, encouraging students to push their creative boundaries while working within given constraints. Teams are judged on originality, collaboration, and problem-solving skills as they advance through regional, state, and even world-level competitions.

Congratulations to all of our Williamson teams for their hard work and success! Your creativity and dedication continue to make us proud.
